ISOx360 Alpha Release

64

Requirements:
- Mac OS X 10.4 or later
- Intel Processor
- Dual Layer DVD Burner

Installation:

So today I have decided to release the an Alpha Version of ISOx360. You can download it from my projects page.

ISOx360 makes burning XBOX 360 games on your Mac just about as simple as it can get. Simply download ISOx360 and extract the .dmg then open the .dmg and drag ISOx360 to your Applications folder to install. Once installed you can launch ISOx360 and you should be presented with a screen similar to the illustration to the left.

ISOx360 Logo 256x256

Step 1 – Open the ISO:

When ISOx360 first launches, the Open pane is selected, from here you can click on the Open Button in the lower left hand corner. You’ll be presented with an open dialog, select your ISO and click Open. After a few seconds you will see that the Game Name, File Type, File Size, and Stealth have been updated. If Stealth says Valid, then all is good… go ahead and insert your blank Dual Layer DVD, select your speed, and click on Burn.

Step 2 – Check Verification Details:

If you want you can check the Verification Details by clicking on the Verification Details tab which will give you detailed information in regards to the Game and Stealth. If anything didn’t pass here then you should try to run the ISO through abgx360 and send me feedback from the Debug Tab.

ISOx360 - Verification Details Pane

ISOx360 - Verification Details Pane

Step 3 – Burn:

Self explanatory, if everything verified and you are ready and eager to play your game, then by all means, don’t hesitate any longer. Go ahead and insert your blank Dual Layer DVD, select your speed and click on Burn.

Step 4 – Feedback:

Probably not the most important step for you, but the most important step for me, I need everyone that decides to use this application to please send me feedback. This helps with bug fixes and future version releases.

I have made the process very simple. Just click on the Debug Tab within ISOx360 and then click the Feedback Button. You can fill out a comment if you want, you can fill in your e-mail if you want. You don’t have to fill in anything if you don’t want to, just click on the send button and ISOx360 will automatically send me its application logs.

NOTE: ISOx360 is no longer support and will no longer be available for download as of 6/21/11. I have developed a new app ISO Burn that will be available on the Mac App Store sometime mid-July. I’ve made a post about ISO Burn here http://chris-fletcher.com/2011/06/20/new-app-from-empoc-media-iso-burn/ click on the link to read more about it. ISO Burn WILL NOT be a replacement for ISOX360 and will not offer any ability to verify XBOX360 disc images. It will however perfectly burn XBOX360 images as well as many others.

I’d like to thank everyone for their support, ISOx360 had a great run at just over 20,000 downloads that I count from this blog alone. I hope that everyone finds ISO Burn just as useful and easy to use as ISOx360.

UPDATE 6/23/2011 – isoBurn has been submitted to the Mac App Store, to read more about it and see some screen shots please visit http://empoc.com/isoburn

That would require rebuilding abgx360 to run on PPC which right now is more trouble then its worth to me. You should still be able to use ISOx360 for burning though. I am working on my own code for verifying stealth, etc… but it is a long process, when its done though, there should be a version available for PPC

Looks great so far, I’m glad someone picked up where OSX360 left off.

I’m using the Matshita drive and have already made 2 coasters (one with osx360 and one with ISOx360). Do you think this is due to the drive or something else? If so, can you recommend a good external burner for Mac?

    Andy,

Thanks for trying it out, could you give me some more info. The best thing to do would be to go to the debug tab and click the feedback button. That will tell me mostly everything I need to know.

One thing to note about the Matshita burners is that they are low quality, mix that with low quality media and you’re almost guaranteed a coaster, what type of media do you use ?

For a burner I use LG and for media its usually either Sony or Verbatim and I get a perfect burn every time.

  7. Chris says:

Had a few bug reports of the burn not completing, stopping after 5 min, etc…

So here’s the deal, if your mac has a Matshita Drive which is a low end burner, you should use high quality media, for example Verbatim. I’ve tried using Memorex in the past and for some reason even with the new mac’s that use the LG drives, the memorex discs have a problem with the layer break. It appears that the first layer which is the Video layer is burned fine, the second layer won’t burn.

So I tried different media, first I tried Verbatim which worked 100% of the time, when I ran out of those I tried Sony, the ones they sell at K-Mart, no issues with those either. So if you’re having issues try different media.

    Chris

I have burned about 3 or 4 coasters with OSx360 using Memorex and Sony discs on my iMac Matshita drive. Everybody should use Verbatims, I haven’t burned one coaster with them so far.

Also thanks for continuing to develop an app for burning xbox games.

Hi Andy, I’m actually using abgx within my software, I wrote a wrapper to grab the output from abgx. As far as the forum is concerned, what is the problem you are having when you try to register ? The reason I ask is because you aren’t the first person that reported a problem, and when I try to register it works fine.

    Hi Chris,
thanks for the response. if the checks fail then, I should run abgx to fix the iso i assume or does your program do this as well? By the way very good piece of software you have. I am impressed by it. It’s about time the mac had a good 360 burning program!
The forum does not do anything it just refreshes the page. i click register and the page just refreshes and i get no registration page (most odd?)the top of the page says support forum, but that is all i get, with register, faq, search, login. thanks, Andy

Thanks, right now ISOx360 only verifies the ISO to make sure everything passes before burning. In a future release I am planning on implementing abgx’s autofix functionality, that way mac users will have an all-in-one solution to burn 360 games.

I’ll check on the forum and see what’s going on, can you tell me which browser you are using ?

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi,

I love the software and appreciate the hard work that you must have put in to it. I have one question though. I use an external DVD Burner (Samsung model) but although it is recognised in the Debug panel and it knows a disc is inserted I can’t find an option to burn using this drive. The front panel just says that no media is inserted as I guess it is looking at the internal drive.

Can you point me in the right direction for using an external drive to burn

    Thanks in advance

I am so confused why it won’t work!! It goes off so quickly its hard to make out–but is it the burner or iso?

That sounds to me like a hardware issue, if you have an external burner you can try I would give that a go, if your burner is older and has been used a lot, the laser may be too weak to burn the second layer of the DVD

    Hey Chris,

I was just wondering, on new games with Wave 4-5 i get abgx360 to verify that stealth check i passed. But in ISOx360 im still getting that Stelth Check is Invalid.

Can i still burn this game or how does this work ?

    Best Regards
    Thomas
